MacCool`s Public House in Salt Lake City

This is one of the few places I ever thought I wanted to leave a review for, great staff, great food and great decor!

Wonderful Food. Warm Fireplace. Nice decor and ambience 🔥

Great food and service

Food was great. Server recommended the house cut French fries and she was right! They were great! I'm adding to my list of go to lunch places.

Today I interviewed for my new job within my company, and we decided to meet here. I had two AMAZING and delicious soft chicken tacos, so juicy, with real lime, and rice and beans, and I nearly ate it all. I absolutely will eat here with my friends and family, because I can say that we had the sweetest waitress! I felt great after finishing the best tacos I've ever had in Utah and the best service! I'm still feeling ephoric!! Ya!!!!! 5 STARS.

I am so happy these guys are here - We needed a good neighborhood pub. I have tried a many items from their menu and have not been disappointed. Prompt, friendly service. More TVs than I’d generally like, I’m sure that most will find this a positive note. Overall a good ambiance.

Nice place to drink but the food is terrible sawdust hamburgers and old chicken and beef for your nachos yuck........

I went here with a few people two weeks after they opened. The service was good and the food was good. So why two stars? The lighting! This may seem harsh but seriously, all four of us were amazed at how glaringly bright it was lit. The sort of blazing, unflattering, blinding light that you’d find upon walking into a Walmart. The most over-lit bar I have ever been inside. It made the place feel unfriendly and not at all comfortable. So much so, that I don’t care to go back. To be fair, they had just opened. The walls were pretty much bare aside for the TVs. It’s possible that they’re still setting up. Maybe some indirect bar lighting is in the works? Hope so! It was that bad.This place has potential. I don’t want to be unfair. But it needs some work to make it feel like a nice place to hang out.

Great food and the service even better!

We dropped by on Friday night around 7pm, not too crowded which was nice. Food was solid but nothing to write home to Mom about. Cheeseburger was solid but the nachos, although large, were lacking a bit on the toppings side of things. The beer was delicious :-)

Service was a bit slow but most likely because of game day and getting their party by loaded and ready. Great Philly steak sandwich.

What an awesome little neighborhood bar! There are so many good things I can say about this place.. Good food, friendly staff, and a laid back environment. If you haven't been here yet, you are missing out!

Watered down ranch and ive never purchased such a tough dirty oil steak from anywhere. I spit this out. The fries have no salt. Not sure what place these other reviews were at. Sure wasn’t this place Their famous wings are..... buffalo sauce?Don’t come here there are better places around with way more quality food. “Where everybody knows your name. (Or makes the effort to learn it!). A fun neighborhood bar with fantastic pub food. Not too common these days, especially on the East side. Owners, managers, and staff are top rate.

Pretty bad. Just tables with TV’s. Bland menu. Is it that hard to have a cozy place with good food? I’d rather watch sports at home and make myself something good to eat. What a disappointment.

So the service was good but the food was just okay. Nice place for a local watering hole, but not for a destination stop.

Cozy fire. Good drinks at great prices and a pool table.

Good service and beer selection. Alas maybe some real cheap 12oz pbr or pbr drafts could be made available?

I went here for some grub and lunch I had a salad, it was huge I could bearly finish it very tasty and the drinks were great

Love this place great staff very nice space for a dinner date but also the staff that is there make you want to come back been there multiple times and have to say I love the place food is good , drinks are priced great and staff makes me keep wanting to come back. From my experience I would highly recommend visiting this bar for a nice night out

Decent value -- the chili verde burrito was tasty, not something I can say about the breaded chicken sandwich. Service was alright. There's a good amount of TVs. Overall a decent experience.

I love having a great local pub! The atmosphere and food was wonderful. What made our experience amazing though was our server Catie. She was so attentive, quick, and friendly! We will be coming back!

Stopped in for a late lunch with my girlfriends. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. They had a selection of fun bar games of which we played Jenga. The food was awesome and they have a great selection of beer and cider.

our first time visiting-there was NO ONE there but us, but we enjoyed the quiet so we could talk. we got the lunch "special" which was, for the most part, served quickly and pretty good. my "complaints" were few and almost not even worth mentioning... 1-my tacos were more sauce than meat, but my friend's weren't, and 2-my friend's tacos all had lettuce/tomato on them, but mine did not. I do want to add though, that when I asked about the lettuce/tomato, the server brought me some with no issue. she was very kind and friendly throughout our visit; we enjoyed talking to her!

I absolutely LOVE this bar and everyone who works here. This bar has a wonderful location, incredibly friendly staff members, and an incredible amount of alcohol AND food options. I spend way too much money here, but will continue to do so because I love it so much. To sum it up, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Friendly staff and good food

Went there for the utah football game and the atmosphere was dead. Food was not good, the chicken wings were soggy and the philly steak had no seasoning. I'm glad I checked it out but will not be going back.

Good food and service. However, we were there Jan31 and the lights were too bright making it feel more like a cafeteria or kids arcade. Has potential with dimmer lighting and consistent music.

The pot stickers here are to die for. Really fun place

I love this place, the tacos on Tuesday are awesome and at a very special price! The staff is incredible and the other customers/regulars are too! If I lived here I would be a regular too!
